Becky and Huw's wedding day was a long time coming what with two postponements thanks to you-know-what! When the day finally arrived, we were so thrilled to play a part in it. Many of Becky and Huw's guests (and their wedding cake!) made the journey to Harrogate from Wales and what a party they had to celebrate!
Becky and Huw were married at St John's Church, Bilton before joining us at The Sun Pavilion for a well earned, ice cold drink served with canapes. We asked the happy couple what made them choose The Sun Pavilion "The setting in the middle of the Valley Gardens is so lovely and unique, as well as location wise it being within walking distance to a lot of accommodation options, as roughly half our guests were coming from Wales. Special mention to the staff as well, who were so helpful right from the off, taking an interest in all the intricate details we wanted to discuss, right up to the day itself where everyone made sure everything was perfect, so we could just sit back and enjoy! The food was also absolutely superb, we had so many comments from the guests saying it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. All round perfect day!"
For their wedding breakfast, Becky and Huw chose a Yorkshire pudding filled with rich onion gravy and herby pork chipolatas, followed by French trimmed chicken breast with truffle pommes Anna, all rounded off with a trio of rich chocolate and orange torte, cinder toffee & milk chocolate pot & vanilla panna cotta. After the meal guests were asked to charge their glasses for 4 fabulous speeches from the Father of the Bride, the Father of the Groom, the Groom himeself and, of course, the Best Man. "Despite a few nerves, all the speeches went really well, until Huw's 'Yorkshire-built reputation' was (in the words of Becky's Grandad) 'destroyed' by the best man with a few choice stories in his speech! All went down well though and everyone enjoyed."
What made your day really special?
"The whole day was so perfect and special but we always talk about the afternoon set up being amazing - we had everyone out on the terrace and around the outside tables with drinks in the sunshine, homemade crazy golf and shuffleboard to the side of the main pavilion building, with the band playing some top tunes with an acoustic setup outside as well. There is plenty of room outside and undercover to make what you want of the afternoon, and it went so perfectly for us."
Any advice for couples planning their wedding?
"Make sure you only invite people you actually want to be there! We ended up having to nearly halve the original guest list due to Covid measures, but in the end we were really glad it ended up like this. We still had a great party and great atmosphere, but having reduced numbers gave us more time to enjoy ourselves and enjoy the company of our family and friends without having to worry about getting around and spending time with a huge guest list."

Just as a last point we were so glad we chose to have a video - we had a 3 minute highlight video which I think we have watched about 1000 times! Really glad we have this to remember the day in years to come. Really recommend Sky Wedding Videographers
